TwRC Masters Bring Home 4.5 Golds and 1 Silver!

As reported by Kosta Kolimechkov, the Masters Squad Coach:

Congratulations to all Masters National Champions in 2013!

We had a wonderful day racing in Nottingham and the conditions were absolutely fabulous.

The first gold medal was won by our Mas.C Novice 4x (stroke Berend, Simon, Doug Knox and James).  This achievement brought a lot of encouragement to our crews.

Next was the final of the Mas.C Novice 1x where Doug Knox stormed through the finish winning the gold.

Jason Boulter had an incredibly fast start and won the gold in the Mas.E Novice 1x.
In the Mas.B Novice 1x final Berend Van Wachem won a gold medal sculling beautifully in his brand new Carl Douglas single scull.

I was fortunate to race in a Carl Douglas double scull with Ali Boileau (PTRC).  We won the Mas.A 2x final and then we raced again in the Mas.B 2x were we had a fantastic race but just managed to finish 3rd.  This made me realise that racing in Masters events is more competitive as you move up the categories.

Robert Bailey got a silver medal in the final of the Mas.H/I/J 1x.  He had to give 23secs handicap to the J sculler which made his task incredibly difficult.

Cathy Almond and Emma Fadlon finished respectably 3rd in the WMas. C Novice 2x, unfortunately there wasn't an opposition for their D category so they had to race the C double sculls without handicap.

Our second crew Mas.C Novice 4x (stroke Niall, Lewis, Alastair and Jason) finished 3rd in the final, unfortunately medals were given only to the winners.

So all in all we came back to Twickenham with 4 and a half gold and 1 silver medals. With 50 points overall we moved up to 24th position.

Very well done team, thank you all for your hard work.
