Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who supported us in 2016, following the cancellation of the 2015 event. Results from 2016 can be found here.
You will see we have had to raise our fees this year – following many years holding them down. This has been necessary to cover launch and safety boat fees, BROE commission and general expenses. Everyone involved in running the event is a volunteer – giving of their time free for the benefit of the regatta and the sport. Please bear this in mind on the day!
This year the weir opens between 3pm and 7pm giving us a changing tide so there will be a break in racing from 3pm until 5pm – an opportunity to enjoy the entertainment and fares in the enclosure.
We actively encourage “doubling-up” and this, together with the changing tidal state, makes for an interesting programme of racing. We will as always make every effort to ensure sufficient changeover times between your first round races. After that it can get complicated: Race Control will be available all day for competitors to mutually agree changes that may be necessary.
We are but human so it is possible there will be some glaring clangers we have missed; please bring these to our attention by email and we will endeavour to fix them before race day. That, and any late withdrawals, may mean minor Timetable changes so PLEASE CHECK BACK TO THIS PAGE FOR UPDATES – the last one will be Friday 26th at 6pm. Please also make sure you have read and understand the various safety and boating instructions, particularly noting that it will change for the flood tide period.
We hope the sun will shine and that we all have a great day of racing.
