Last weekend saw the most anticipated weekend of the year for Twickenham's Senior Women squad as they competed at Henley Women’s Regatta. A few last minute changes to entries because of injury and other commitments meant that Twickenham had our initial 6 entries reduced to 3, but that didn’t take away anything from a fantastic weekend’s racing. The Senior
women raced two quads in the Aspirational 4x as well as a single in the Aspirational
Lwt 1x.
The quad of Abi Thomson, Ellen Tweed, Emily Harrison and Emily O'Connor made it
through the time trial before being drawn against Worcester. This race started fairly
tight before Twickham broke free to win by 3 lengths. On Saturday, they faced
Thames. Again, a tight race the whole way with Twickenham pushing Thames every
stroke, though ultimately Thames managed to get the win.
The quad of Lexi Bothamley-Dakin, Millie Andrew, Ellie Spoerry and Livi Bothamley-
Dakin just missed out on qualifying, coming away ultimately in 26th . This is a fantastic
acheivement in a category including performance academy athletes!
Elizabeth Garbett took on the course in a single, entering the Fiona Dennis Trophy for
Aspirational Lwt singles and came 18 in the time trial, the second fastest non
qualifier. A great race on Elizabeth’s first time at Henley Women’s though surely not
the last.
A huge achievement from all the Twickenham athletes who competed at HWR. This
success is a testament to the hard work of the individuals, the other squad members
who pushed and supported them, and of course, our coaches!
