The Senior Men’s Thames Challenge Cup 8+ came through qualifiers comfortably, with thier first race schefuled for Tuesday. Being drawn against Tyne, a crew who had gone both faster and slower than Twickenham recently, it was a race with potential. The Senior men’s 8 rowed well, with a lot of compliments from the commentry team but missed out progressing onto day 2 this year. Congratulations for an impressive row and to head coach Luke for getting the squad to a position to be able to consistently qualify.

In the premier events, Aidan Thompson, Vwairé Obukohwo and Callum Dixon all prequalified in the Diamond Challenge Sculls (M1x), Stonor Challenge Trophy (W2x) and Queen Mother Challenge Cup (M4x) respectively.

Callum returned to the event he won in 2023 with a slightly different crew, having had good results in Europe recently. They won thier first race against an Irish composite which included Paul O'Donovan and Fintan MacCarthy. Despite a high rate start from the Irish, Callum's boat kept their composure to win the semi final. In the final, they met a formidable Rowing Australia crew. The Australian boat had a rapid start, leading at the end of the island but Callum’s crew made a decisive move at Fawley to win the event by 2 1/2 lengths and set a new course record.
