Twickenham win at Henley Masters

Twickenham was represented by a contingent of B, C, D, F and G crews at Henley Masters this weekend with the Women's F 4x recording a fantastic win in the process.

The Twickenham RC/Putney TRC composite beat Tideway Scullers School in the final by 2 1/2 lengths to secure a gleaming set of medals.

Some tough competition on the Saturday saw that most Twickenham crews did not pass the semi-final stages, but some great races were served up.

Julia’s semi final in the women’s D1x against (Susan Mulcahy) of PTR was tight from the start. The two were neck and neck for most of the race. Julia pulled away at just over half way but (Mulcahy) PTR responded well. An umpire’s warning to Julia just metres from the line led to her missing a couple of strokes; Mulcahy took advantage and won by just under half a length.

The Mens C 8+ had the tough assignment of taking on a strong Crabtree crew, ultimately losing by 1 1/2 lengths to the eventual category winners. Crabtree had an impressive start and quickly established an early lead. Twickenham responded and started to start claw Crabtree back in, but eventually ran out of water. An equally challenging race awaited the Womens C 8+ who were up against Thames RC who ran out winners by one length after being pushed all the way to the line by Twickenham.
