Twickenham Finishes Head Season with Five Entries in Vesta International Masters Head of The River Race

The men's 4x- "A" boat had a thrilling finish to place third in the Op D category while the women's 8+ finished 6th among 19 entrants in the W D category
Twickenham Rowing Club's Masters squads finished their season with a strong outing at the Vesta International Masters Head of the River Race.

An Exciting Finish in the Op D 4x- category
Rowing in Stampfi, the men's 4x- A boat with the crew of Jimbo Easton (stroke), Simon Brown, Nick Crayson, and Jim Hughes (bow) had the highest finish of the day, placing third in the Op D 4x- category. Finishing with a time of 20:57.5, the crew was just under 18 seconds back of the 1st and 2nd place finishers in the category.
The Stampfli had an exciting race; after being taken by an international crew from the Netherlands at Hammersmith Bridge the crew overtook them in return in the closing 200 metres and a very close finish.
Also competing in the category and rowing Filipi, the crew of Danny Fitzgerald (stroke), George Carivalis, Dean Tranter , and James Wilson (bow) rowed doggedly to the finish, placing 5th with a time of 22:25.8.
A Pair of Powerful 8s in the Master's Women Squad
After a win in the C/D/E category at Kingston Head the week prior, the women's 8+ continued its strong performance on the water, finishing 6th in the crowded W D 8+ category.
Using the same lineup from Kingston Head, the crew of Abi Bray (Stroke), Kathy Billings, Vicki Clark, Faith Forster, Rosie Creer, Nicki Lyon, Janet Holt, and Gilly O’Beirne (Bow), with Andy Dobson coxing, managed a time of 21:51.5 which sat in it's own pocket equally between the grouping of boats that finished 3rd to 5th and those that finished 7th and 8th.
The squad also entered the W Nov 8+ category with the crew of Vanessa James (stroke), Helen Mullally, Genevieve Siddons, Jannine Ball, Pia Kemppi, Nicole Neumann, Catherine Chevalier, and Nic Ansell (bow) with Jenna Lapish coxing, also placing 6th in their category with a time of 24:01.0 H25 rowing in 150 Club.
Op H 8+ Setting the Stage for Regatta Season
The Master's men also entered the Op H 8+ cateogry with a crew of Doug Davidson (stroke), Keith Baldwin, Michael Salzman, Paul Wood-Robinson, Tony Alves, John Evoy, Robert Kerr, and Richard Stanley (bow) with Janine Pullen coxing. Placing fourth, the crew is looking ahead to regatta season and leaning into their strength with head-to-head racing.
